How To Play BeBop – Jazz Piano Lesson

Here is how I play bebop and how you can do the same.
The bebop style is very fun to play, but it requires a lot of practicing to be able to play in faster tempos.

I have not practiced so much the bebop scale to be able to play like this, but many people swear to the bebop scale. I like better to work with the chromatic scale as well as circling around notes.

Here's that rainy day – Jazz Piano Lesson – 10 INTERESTING steps download:

In this little lesson I'm not talking so much.
Sometimes the written word is more powerful than the spoken!

This is my arrangement on Here's that rainy day.

The ten steps to make it interesting:

1. Play the melody simple (1st time)
2. Listen to your favorite recording of the song so you can implement ideas
3. Add your own touch to the music
4. Make some minor changes to the melody, harmony, rhythm and dynamics
5. Add some of what you know (Tricks, licks etc…)
6. Add extra ingredients (Such as an interlude) before you
7. Play an improvisation over the chord changes. Keep it simple or complex depending on what you feel is the right for the music
8. Get in for landing. Connect the dots, play the melody again but add some difference to what you started with.
9. Delay the ending with a little outro/detour, and slow down before you make the final…
10. Fresh ending
